What does ACHC International accreditation mean?
Accreditation Commission for Health Care International (ACHC International) offers an international hospital-accreditation programme. ACHC is a US non-government accreditation organisation.
Who runs it and is it the government?
ACHC operates the programme separately from government licensing. Its international hospital standards are distinct from its domestic US programmes. Ask the hospital to identify the international programme explicitly rather than relying on a general statement that it is “ACHC accredited”.
If a clinic refers to US accreditation or deeming arrangements, ask which award those arrangements concern. They do not establish US government approval of a hospital overseas. The destination country's permission to operate and the treating doctor's registration remain separate questions.
What does it assess and for how long?
The international programme uses hospital standards and an external accreditation process. Request the current international assessment details directly from ACHC, including the survey arrangement and how the award is maintained.
Use the hospital's certificate to establish its validity period. If the clinic has supplied only an announcement, ask for the certificate and ACHC's confirmation of current status. Do not assign a term borrowed from one of ACHC's US programmes.
IEEA recognition covers ACHC's International Hospital Standards for 2026–2030. This concerns standards, not a separately established organisation-level award to ACHC. It also does not establish that the hospital itself holds a current certificate. IEEA's awards directory identifies the recognised subject and dates.
How do I find a clinic in its register?
Start at ACHC's website, open About Us and follow the ACHC International route. Request verification of the current international award directly if no suitable recipient search is available.
Give ACHC the hospital's name and certificate details. Ask it to identify the international programme, the certificate's validity and the services covered. A general answer about ACHC's standards does not answer whether this particular hospital has received and retained the advertised award.
What does it not tell me?
International hospital accreditation, domestic US recognition and IEEA recognition of standards are different claims. Keep the issuer's programme information separate from confirmation of the hospital's own status.
