How do I check a private-hospital licence in Cyprus?
The Republic of Cyprus regulates private hospitals, clinics and day clinics through its Ministry of Health. Cyprus's government licensing guidance covers their establishment and operation under the applicable law.
Who runs it and is it the government?
The Ministry of Health's Medical and Public Health Services administers the licensing process. This is government operating permission, rather than a voluntary international accreditation award.
This page concerns the Republic of Cyprus. Do not use these routes as an explanation of regulation in the northern part of the island. Ask which jurisdiction is responsible if a clinic's location leaves that question unclear.
Some Cyprus providers also hold international accreditation from organisations such as Accreditation Canada or CHKS. Those awards have separate issuers and should not be described as a Cyprus-owned national accreditation scheme.
What does it assess and for how long?
The process includes an establishment or operating application and regulatory inspection. It concerns the permission required for the relevant type of private facility. The operating-licence guidance provides the official application information.
A renewal process exists, but the exact term needs to be read from the particular licence. Ask for the current operating document and any renewal information that affects its validity. Do not assume a standard international-accreditation cycle applies to a government licence.
When the clinic provides several documents, identify which one permits operation and which concerns a separate quality assessment. That distinction helps you direct questions to the right issuer.
How do I find a clinic in its register?
Open the Ministry of Health's licensed health structures and services page and choose private hospitals. Find the legal name and district, then read the authorisation details and any published dates.
If the entry is incomplete or the trading name differs, ask the ministry to confirm the facility's current operating permission. Supply the legal name and licence details from the clinic so the answer refers to the correct establishment.
What does it not tell me?
A private-hospital licence is not international accreditation and does not verify the treating doctor's credentials. The Cyprus doctor-check page explains the professional-registration enquiry separately.
Use How to check any mark in five minutes to assess any additional accreditation claims.
