What does ESHRE ART Centre Accreditation mean?
The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) accredits eligible assisted-reproduction centres. Its ART Centre Accreditation programme examines the centre's organisation and quality arrangements.
Who runs it and is it the government?
ESHRE is a professional society, rather than a government licensing authority. If you need confirmation of its legal form, request that information directly instead of inferring it from the European name.
The programme is open to eligible ART centres in Council of Europe member countries. That geographical eligibility is not the same as confirmation that an individual centre has received an award. Ask the clinic for the certificate naming the centre, even if its staff also hold personal society credentials.
What does it assess and for how long?
Assessment addresses the centre's organisation, policies, activity and quality indicators. The process includes application and document assessment followed by an on-site visit under the programme rules. ESHRE's rules and requirements describe that assessment route.
Use the expiry date in the certified-centres list to establish the individual award's term. If the clinic provides a certificate with different dates, ask ESHRE to confirm which record reflects the current position. Do not infer a uniform duration from another centre's award.
The centre is the subject of this assessment. A claim about a staff member's training or credentials requires a separate check, even when the professional works at an accredited centre.
How do I find a clinic in its register?
Open ESHRE's certified-centres list. Find the centre and compare its country and certificate expiry with the clinic's claim. Read the centre name closely if the clinic advertises under a wider group brand.
The list includes a centre in Turkey, but that does not establish accreditation of every Turkish fertility provider. For any provider, ask ESHRE to clarify an unclear name or expired entry before relying on it. An application or assessment visit should not be substituted for a current certificate.
What does it not tell me?
Centre accreditation does not license the treating doctor and does not predict your chance of pregnancy or live birth. Ask about professional registration and your treatment separately from the centre's organisational award.
Use How to check any mark in five minutes for the common certificate checks.
