What does Global Healthcare Accreditation mean?
Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) offers medical-travel and healthcare-organisation programmes with different scopes. It is a private US organisation whose product terms name Global Healthcare Accreditation, Inc.
Who runs it and is it the government?
GHA is not a government licensing authority. If you need to establish the legal entity responsible for a particular product or contract, check that product's terms. A company name in one set of terms should not automatically be applied to every service offered under the brand.
GHA's medical-travel programme concerns hospitals and ambulatory organisations serving travelling patients. Other GHA products include patient-experience and facilitator certification. Ask for the full award title so you know whether the recipient is a healthcare provider or a business arranging care.
What does it assess and for how long?
Medical-travel assessment addresses the patient experience, business practices and patient-focused processes. The newer healthcare-organisation programme has a separate scope. The process includes application, standards review and external assessment. Ask GHA which assessment method and renewal period apply to the specific award. GHA's accreditation-process page describes the general route.
GHA's IEEA recognition concerns standards: medical-travel standards for June 2023 to June 2027 and healthcare-organisation standards for May 2026 to May 2030. Those are not the validity dates of a hospital's certificate, nor a separate organisation-level award to GHA. IEEA's directory identifies the recognised category.
How do I find a clinic in its register?
Open GHA's directory of accredited and certified organisations. Choose the programme tab and region, then locate the recipient and exact award. Read every date attached to the listing.
Historical entries can remain visible. For example, an entry with a 2017–2020 award period does not establish current accreditation. If the directory says only “since”, ask GHA for the present expiry date and status. The date accreditation began is not enough to settle whether it continues today.
What does it not tell me?
A GHA logo without its programme title leaves the assessment scope unclear. A facilitator certificate does not establish the treating hospital's clinical accreditation, and IEEA recognition of standards does not confirm an individual provider's award.
