How do I check a Hungarian clinic's operating permit?
Hungary's official healthcare-provider records concern operating permissions, locations and permitted services. The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy, known as NNGYK, and the competent health-administration authorities oversee these arrangements.
Who runs it and is it the government?
The operating-permit system belongs to government health administration. A record describes a provider's legal authorisation, including its locations, organisational units and permitted specialties.
BELLA is a separate accreditation name found in historical development material. Do not treat an operating-permit entry as evidence of BELLA accreditation. If a clinic advertises BELLA today, ask who currently operates the programme and which organisation can verify its award.
What does it assess and for how long?
Operating authorisation follows the applicable service requirements and administrative registration. The relevant permission is specific to the provider and services. Ask which permitted service covers the treatment you are booking.
Read the actual permit's terms rather than assigning it a universal quality-award cycle. If the clinic says its permission changed or was renewed, ask the competent authority to confirm the current position against the provider's record.
For BELLA, request a current certificate, an active verification contact and the applicable renewal arrangements. Semmelweis University's historical accreditation material explains past development, but an older programme document does not establish an active award in 2026.
How do I find a clinic in its register?
From NNGYK's register page, follow “Egészségügyi szolgáltatók keresése”, the healthcare-provider search. Search by provider name or location, then compare the site and permitted services with the clinic's details.
If a brand name does not give a clear match, request the legal provider name. Check the service description rather than stopping at the organisation's presence in the results. NNGYK's health-administration register information supplies a further official route for the enquiry.
For a BELLA claim, direct the separate award question to its named issuer. An operating-permit result cannot settle the accreditation question.
What does it not tell me?
Legal permission to operate does not establish current BELLA accreditation. Historical programme development does not establish the present operator, renewal arrangements or a clinic's current award.
Follow How to check any mark in five minutes when reviewing the clinic's other credentials.
