What does ACSA certification mean in Spain?

The Agencia de Calidad Sanitaria de Andalucía (ACSA) assesses defined healthcare units, centres and institutions. It is a public-sector quality agency within Andalusia's health-ministry portfolio.

Who runs it and is it the government?

ACSA is a public regional agency, rather than a private international accreditation company. Its ownership is an important exception to any general claim that all healthcare accreditors are private.

Both public and private healthcare organisations can fall within its programmes. Ask which unit, centre or institution received the award. A certificate for a professional or a particular unit has a different recipient from a whole-centre certificate.

ACSA holds organisation-level IEEA recognition for June 2023 to June 2027. This recognition concerns the agency itself. It does not supply the expiry date or scope of the clinic's award. IEEA's awards directory identifies the recognised organisation.

What does it assess and for how long?

The assessment covers clinical services, patient relationships and management processes under the relevant manual. It combines self-evaluation with external evaluation and produces an award with a defined scope.

Read the programme and dates on the actual certificate. In particular, do not apply a five-year professional-competence term to a facility award. Those programmes assess different recipients, so their validity arrangements need separate confirmation. ACSA's certification information gives context for its programme range.

If a clinic advertises a level without the programme name, ask for both. A level becomes meaningful when it is attached to the correct assessment framework and recipient.

How do I find a clinic in its register?

Open the Andalusian health service's list of accredited centres. Locate the centre or unit and compare its exact name, level and validity with the claim.

For a private or international recipient that is not clear in this list, ask ACSA directly. The list should not be assumed to contain every award ACSA has issued. Request confirmation of the specific programme and recipient rather than treating a missing result as a final answer.

What does it not tell me?

An award to an individual professional or unit does not establish whole-clinic certification. A regional public scheme also should not be described as a universal Spanish quality label.

Use How to check any mark in five minutes for the remaining checks.
