What does Turkey's health-tourism authorisation mean?

Turkey's International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate concerns eligibility to operate under its health-tourism regulations. The Ministry of Health's authorisation lists distinguish healthcare facilities from intermediaries.

Who runs it and is it the government?

This is a government authorisation system. A healthcare facility and a business arranging treatment can each appear in the system, but their permissions have different recipients and purposes.

If your enquiry begins with a travel coordinator, ask which hospital or clinic will actually provide care. Check that healthcare provider separately in the facility list. The intermediary's authorisation does not authorise a clinic simply because the intermediary works with it.

What does it assess and for how long?

The process involves a regulatory application and compliance verification. Requirements differ by category, and continuing authorisation depends on compliance. Use the current list and any relevant transition rules rather than assuming a universal fixed-term quality award.

TÜSKA's official notice sets an accreditation deadline of 31 December 2026 for specified facilities, including hospitals, medical centres, laboratories and dialysis centres. That date is still ahead as of 23 October 2026. Ask which requirements apply to the provider's category and the date of your treatment. TÜSKA's accreditation notice explains the requirement.

An announced deadline does not demonstrate that a particular provider has already complied. If the clinic claims SAS accreditation as well as tourism authorisation, request the separate award details.

How do I find a clinic in its register?

Open the ministry's authorisation page and choose the healthcare-facility list, not the intermediary list. Search for the provider's legal name and city, then compare the listed treatment location with your proposed booking. The ministry's authorised healthcare-facility page provides that route.

Ask the provider for its legal name if you know only a brand. If you find the coordinator but not the treating facility, the clinic's permission still needs confirmation. Direct that question to the ministry with the facility's own details.

What does it not tell me?

Tourism authorisation does not replace professional licensing or procedure-specific approval. It is also separate from quality accreditation. Check the treating professional through the Turkey doctor-check page.

Follow How to check any mark in five minutes when reviewing the provider's other credentials.
