Travelling to Medellín for treatment

For visas, payment arrangements and medical documents, start with Travelling to Colombia for treatment. This page covers arrival, clinic locations and the local route for raising concerns in Medellín.

How do I get there?

Check Airplan’s official airport information, which distinguishes José María Córdova International Airport from Olaya Herrera. Confirm the exact airport on your ticket and the clinic’s pickup instructions.

Ask the provider to identify the treatment address and municipality before arranging transport. Request a contact number and a meeting point for the arriving flight. Confirm whether the initial consultation, investigations and procedure take place at the same site, and ask for separate arrangements where the itinerary involves more than one building.

Where are the clinics?

Dr David Delgado’s practice lists Calle 6 Sur 43A-227, consulting room 776. Clínica CES lists Calle 58 50C-2 in Prado Centro and an outpatient address on Carrera 50C.

Use the location confirmed for your specific appointment. Ask for the building, entrance and department, and check whether an operating hospital differs from the consulting address. If a practice gives you a changed address, request a revised written confirmation. Keep the legal provider name with the address so it can be used in any later correspondence.

Who can I complain to locally?

The Medellín municipal PQRSD portal is a local channel for requests and complaints and explains routing between authorities. Ask the municipal health service whether your issue belongs with it or with the departmental authority responsible for the provider.

The portal distinguishes matters arising outside Medellín, so give the actual treatment municipality. Request the correct submission category, accepted evidence and language requirements. Retain the reference number and ask how to follow the case if you no longer have a Colombian telephone number.

For national bodies and licence-checking information, see Travelling to Colombia for treatment.

What should I know about the place?

Medellín’s government describes medical travel and specialised care as part of the city’s visitor economy. Its sector-development programme does not endorse the providers named on this page.
