Travelling to Los Algodones for treatment
For visas, payment arrangements and medical documents, start with Travelling to Mexico for treatment. This page covers arrival, clinic locations and the local route for raising concerns in Los Algodones.
How do I get there?
The US-side air gateway is Yuma International Airport. Confirm flight connections and the onward trip to the border separately; an airport booking does not include a crossing arrangement.
From the Yuma area, use the Andrade port of entry for Los Algodones. CBP publishes opening hours of 6 am to 10 pm. Check the current pedestrian or vehicle listing and plan your return around the port’s closing time. Ask the clinic to identify its meeting point on the Mexican side and how to contact the driver if the border queue changes your arrival.
How do I come back across the border?
US Customs and Border Protection’s land-entry guidance lists acceptable documents, including a US passport book or card for US citizens and a valid Permanent Resident Card for US permanent residents. Canadian, British and EU travellers should check CBP’s requirements for their citizenship and immigration status before planning the US leg; permission to enter Mexico does not establish US admission.
CBP’s medication guidance says to declare medicines and carry them in their original containers with the doctor’s instructions. The FDA’s personal-importation guidance distinguishes visitors from US residents and explains restrictions on unapproved drugs. A prescription or a supply of 90 days does not create a general right for a returning US resident to import an unapproved medicine. Check the particular medicine before purchasing it.
Where are the clinics?
Dental del Rio places its clinic on Calle Encino in Los Algodones. Dental Solutions Algodones lists Calle Tercera 160.
Ask for the complete written address and a map pin matching the clinic’s own contact page. If someone will meet you at the crossing, confirm their name, the side of the border and the precise pickup point. Check whether laboratory visits or later appointments use another building.
Who can I complain to locally?
Baja California’s medical-complaint service lists identification, a written account and evidence of the patient–provider relationship among its requirements. It describes an in-person route. Ask the state medical arbitration commission which office handles your provider and whether a representative can submit after you leave. Request confirmation of language and translation requirements.
For national bodies and licence-checking information, see Travelling to Mexico for treatment.
What should I know about the place?
Mexicali’s municipal urban-development plan identifies Los Algodones with dental tourism. That planning description does not verify a clinic’s licence or the suitability of a proposed procedure.
