Mitochondrial medicine abroad: what clinics offer and publish
This page describes what clinics publish about treatments they call mitochondrial medicine. It says nothing about whether any of them works for any purpose, and nothing here should be read that way.
What do clinics mean by "mitochondrial medicine"?
Clinics use the name for programmes they describe as acting on mitochondria, the energy-producing parts of cells. In practice the programmes combine several things: diet and micronutrients, infusions, breathing sessions, light or oxygen treatments. Each clinic puts the programme together individually.
What do they publish about price?
On 24 October 2026 we checked clinics in Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Panama, Colombia and the United Arab Emirates that offer programmes under this name. None of them publishes a price for a programme, and none of them offers mitochondrial transplantation, the transfer of isolated mitochondria, as a treatment.
Which part can be compared?
One component is priced openly: IHHT, interval hypoxic-hyperoxic therapy, in which the patient breathes air with alternating low and high oxygen through a mask while resting. Many practices publish a price per session and per course. Our IHHT price comparison lists them by country.
What does research say?
Our guide What have studies of IHHT shown, and what have they not? summarises the published studies, with their size, duration and limits.
Where are NAD+ infusions?
NAD+ infusions are often sold alongside these programmes, but they are a separate treatment with their own prices: see NAD+ infusions.
