What clinics abroad say about warranties, redos and aftercare, and what they don't
A study of 684 clinics that publish prices for international patients, observed on the clinics' own websites between 21 September 2026 and 30 October 2026.
Key findings
- 66% of clinics selling dental work or surgery to foreign patients say nothing on their website about a warranty, who pays for a redo, or what happens after you fly home. 216 of the 326 clinics assessed on all three state none of them.
- Only 15% say who pays if the work has to be redone (49 of 326 clinics).
- Only 23% state warranty terms for the work (74 of 326). Fewer still describe aftercare once you are home: 18% (59 of 326).
- Dental implants are the most transparent treatment we track, and still most clinics stay silent: 35% of 161 implant clinics state warranty terms, 21% say who pays for a redo, 21% describe aftercare at home.
- Crowns and veneers are among the least transparent: of 134 clinics, 10% state a warranty and 4% say who pays for a redo.
- No country we measured is good on redos. For dental work and surgery, who pays for a redo is stated by 10–35% of clinics in every country we measured.

What this means for patients
A price without terms is not comparable. Before you pay a deposit, ask the clinic in writing:
- Is there a warranty? What does it cover, for how long, and does it still apply after I go home?
- If the work fails or has to be redone, who pays for the treatment, the flights and the stay?
- Who is my treating doctor, by name?
- What aftercare do you arrange once I am home, and with whom?
A missing answer on the website does not mean the clinic offers nothing: many give terms in a personal quote. It does mean you have to ask, and get it in writing.

Results by country: dental work and surgery
Countries were collected in different rounds (from 21 September or from 21 October), from different sets of pages and with a different mix of procedures. The table describes each country's sample; it does not rank countries.

How we did it
- Who is included. 684 clinics in 23 countries that publish at least one treatment price for international patients and are listed in the medtourism.guide catalogue. Clinics that publish no prices are not included, so the real share of clinics stating their terms is likely lower.
- What we checked. For each clinic, the pages where it sells the treatment to foreign patients, as published between 21 September 2026 and 30 October 2026. The pages checked differ by clinic: mostly price and treatment pages, and international-patient pages where we found them. 2,740 price observations in total.
- How we scored. For each of four terms (warranty, redo or revision policy, aftercare after returning home, named treating doctor) a clinic counts as stated if any of its pages states the term, including saying plainly that there is none. A statement that results are not guaranteed is not counted as warranty terms. Partly stated (a warranty is mentioned but its terms are not given) is counted as not stated in the headline numbers and shown separately in the data.
- Headline base. Warranty and redo questions matter most where a treatment can fail and need redoing, so the headline figures use dental work and surgery only (340 clinics). Check-ups, infusions, hormone and hyperbaric treatments are in the full data but not in the headline.
- No clinic is named or ranked. This is a picture of the market, not a league table. Each clinic's own page in our catalogue shows what it states, with the source link and date.
- Clinics can correct us. If a clinic publishes its terms, it can tell us via the page for clinics and we update its page.
