What does it involve?
Clinics describe their offer by method, product and number of sessions:
Low-intensity shockwave therapy — sessions with a device applied to the penis. The European Association of Urology notes that protocols and devices vary widely between studies.
Clinics use three price units, compared separately here:
Per session — one shockwave session or one injection.
Per course — a stated number of sessions sold together.
Per operation — penile prosthesis implantation, as one package.
A session price usually includes the procedure and the product. An operation price may or may not include the implant itself, the surgeon's and anaesthetist's fees, the hospital stay and checks after surgery. Often charged extra: a first consultation, tests, medicines and follow-up. Prices are only comparable within the same unit and the same method; an inflatable implant is not compared with a semi-rigid one.
